So um I got my period just now, I checked if I got it right after I did the online checkin for my first ever gyno appointment in my life today at 9am. Um do I cancel or idk. It’s my moms gyno she had to make an appointment 6 months in advance long wait

Honestly, definitely don’t cancel. Go to the appointment and maybe let them know with a warning call that you will be on your period just to make sure they aren’t expecting a physical exam. Some tests for pcos they actually want you on your period for, like my sister had to come back for a blood draw when her period started for her pcos diagnosis, so it might be convenient for you!

I know for places around me the wait to be in places is kinda long and frustrating to have to reschedule so I’d just ask what they suggest

Yeah, it’s just this is my first one, and I lowkey might be getting checked for pcos and/endo my primary was thinking I had it. Then I might be going out of state next month or the month after that cuz I’m applying to masters programs out of state. Idk what’s going on with my life.

They should still be able to do any blood tests. I think the only thing I may have an issue with would be a pap

For your first one they may just do a basic exam which I think they should be able to still do with ur period. For PCOS yeah they would start with blood tests and get you scheduled for an internal ultrasound or do an external one there

blood tests?? they didn't do any of that for mine.. i just went in, she explained what the test was, asked if i had questions n like about my period n shi and just swabbed my coochie and sent me on my way..

They usually do blood tests to check androgen and other hormone levels for PCOS y

See, I went to school out of state and when I aged out of my pediatric doctor, I just went to another one, so this is a base zero appointment on their side. My mother wanted to drive me so she’s doing that but not coming into the room. The thing is it’s really complicated, basically my last time home in the winter my mom noticed some things abt my period that I kinda mentioned but she got worried and made an appointment. She wants me home forever, long story, but I’m moving I hate it here…

The thing here is idk what I’m doing in life tbh or where I’ll be in a month so idk if I should reschedule the appointment, but at the same time, I want to know if I have these things. I’m leaning towards going but also scared.

You can’t get it done now and have them transfer the records to your next place. Having that medical history can help w a diagnosis or monitor changes
