I know this isn’t the same thing but my dad constantly gets mad at me for not immediately answering his texts when I’m driving or not looking at my phone for a few hours bc I’m busy or something. And I’ll say why I didn’t answer and he will say some bs like “you couldn’t have pulled over for a second to check your notification? What if it was important?” “You’re always on your phone and you’re telling me you didn’t see that text hours ago?”
The instant-everything nature of modern society has led people to feel entitled to others’ time/effort/attention. Just because it takes 10 seconds to read & reply to a text doesn’t mean that reply will come through instantly. Expecting someone to stop what they’re doing to respond to words on a screen is insane. And “what if it was an emergency?” If that was ACTUALLY the case I think a phone call is the better option for instant contact but that’s just me 🤷🏻♀️
