They require you to also write essays, I think they can figure out who wins from that and no one applies anyways cuz no one wants to write a three page essay. No prof wants to write a letter of rec unless it’s for a school, not a scholarship.

In the past 3 days I’ve applied to 60 scholarships, the ones with letters of recommendation are clearly doing it so people don’t bother applying. They are the most extensive ones requiring the most material, videos, 5-7 page essays and recommendations, it’s too much

you can be a good essay writer while being a shitty person. you can also pay people to write your essay. rec letters are a lot harder to fake and show a lot more about your character

All the other ones without letters of recommendation also give more money, it’s like the companies who require a letter of rec just want to have a scholarship to look nice

or they’re smaller and don’t want to risk their company name being attached to someone who’s a shit person because unlike larger, richer groups, they can’t afford coverups for people who publicly fuck up. all I’m saying is not everyone deserves a scholarship and because college education is becoming so oversaturated, they have to do more to find the best candidate for real who’s not lying about shit
