I had to put my childhood dog down last year. It never gets easier but eventually you start thinking more about the good times you had with them rather than those last few bad moments. I think about him nearly everyday but it’s always about how much happier he always made me and how he’d make me laugh. I rest easier nowadays knowing he’s no longer in pain or poor health.
Grief and loss really are some of the most debilitating and devastating emotions. I’m so sorry for your loss. My childhood dog was with my family before I was born and passed away a few years ago. It’s really important to validate your emotions and take time and space for yourself, and realize that everyone processes it differently. It’s perfectly okay to grieve in whatever way is best for you for as long as you need, but please try to take care of yourself physically, it will help mentally. 1/2
Im so sorry that your having to deal with this. I lost my cat on Wednesday and it’s been extremely hard on me. I haven’t really been able to process it all until a day later but I slowly had to accept it. It’s hard but you just have to remember that you did the best you could to give them a good life. You can take as much time as you need to process and if you want to cry, go ahead and cry. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Dm me if you would like to talk
nooo omg girl i am so sorry thats the most devastating dogs are always there no matter what and excited to see and greet u and love unconditionally they are much better than any human can ever be and are such pure souls and we love them so much i am so sorry i just hope that u remember u gave her an amazing life and you will see her again those thoughts are the only way to keep going, you will be with her again one day and she is watching over u❤️
I’m so sorry. I recently lost my dog I had since I was 5. He was with us for 14 years. It’s such a hard thing to go through. I know what helped me was knowing that having him put down was going to keep him from continuing to feel the pain he was feeling and that I was able to make sure I was with him when he passed. Everyone goes through grief differently. Don’t feel like you have to handle it the same as anyone else. And don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it.
yes the prints and if she’s still with us i’d recommend looking up a dog painting , just need peanut butter a plastic bag and a small canvas. i did it with both of my childhood dogs that passed. no matter what she leaves behind you’ll always have your memories. losing a pet is one of the hardest things to go through, i’m so sorry sending you lots of love honey🩷
What helped me most was to realize that my dog would want me to be happy and enjoy life without her, even if that meant being really sad for a while. You will get through this, it will get better, and it’s going to be difficult. I know it’s kinda corny but whatever who cares, I like to think of the quote “don’t cry because it’s over (not true because it’s perfectly okay and helpful to be sad, but you know what I mean), smile because it happened.” Hope this helps and I’m here if you need to dm.
I lost my dog about a month ago. She was rushed to the vet due to her having blood in her bowels and the vet said they didn’t know if she would be able to live. I’m currently in college so I wasn’t able to go home so I heard the news over text when she passed I reflected on the things that I could’ve done better rather than the good moment I had with her grief can be difficult you have to take it one step at a time each day. Sometimes I look back at her photos to see the memories I made with her
Therapy can be so helpful for processing grief if you think thats something you may need. You can also talk to your vet about different keepsakes from your baby. I kept my dogs fur and got his paw and nose prints as well as his ashes and they sit on my desk at home so I can see him whenever I come home from college.
