hot take but i don’t like liberal feminists, at least the ones online. i think a good amount are just virtue signalers and not actually authentic, and some just do more harm than good. feminism should include intersectionality and diverse perspectives

and modern feminism needs to be globally focused. there are women in some parts of the world who are essentially domestic sex slaves and they don't have a choice. it's disingenuous when you gloss over stuff like that but freak out over trivial things here in the west

Liberal/choice feminism is inherently tied to individualism and championing individual choices as being feminist. This fits in perfectly with upholding capitalism since there's no desire to examine, interrogate, and dismantle the *systems* of oppression that keep us all down. I also think it's no surprise that liberal feminists are also being pulled down the road of terfism since they're not willing to question gender as a social construct

Yes, genuinely. I feel like a lot of really new feminism has the exact same hard and fast rules of how one can be a successful, un-oppressed woman, when its impossible to not be oppressed in a globally oppressive system. Its a lot of ‘you have to be a cog in capitalism to be free, don’t serve your husband, serve the wealthy’ like thats not equally bad or worse

i’ve said the exact same thing myself. it’s like they don’t understand nuance and if you disagree with them, you’re a horrible person. they don’t care to seek out perspectives from the communities they say they care about either

this. i’ve come across other liberals that claim they care about x y and z but it’s all performative. they don’t actually do something about it.

Despite the horrors of....everything happening rn, it's really encouraging to see all the people I know both in real life and online who were super into the liberal feminist politics of the early 2010s put all the pieces together and openly be anti-capitalist, anti-colonialism/imperialism, pro Palestine, etc. Instead of being bogged down in the identity politics of that era, we've all learned and grown to see the bigger picture
