idk if this could be helpful, but the state of indiana is taking measures to prevent erosion in the dunes national park but its receiving major pushback from “save the dunes” because it will limit public access! very complicated situation because if the water levels keep rising, there won’t be any land to use for public access anyways

there’s timed entry into some national parks. hawaii/tourist housing making local housing more expensive

If it’s realistic look into other countries too! A lot of SE Asia is experiencing this (I think Vietnam and Thailand are big ones), and iirc overtourism has led to some political issues in some of the big spots in Europe like Paris and Rome (which isn’t quite connected to the sustainability aspect, but it could provide some additional context for overtourism)
