Fun fact, America went through a masculinity crisis in the 80’s due to feminism

unfortunately I believed all of these things until meeting real people in each movement who genuinely believed the world would be better without x group that it’s “not about” - the movements are not ABOUT them, but a scary number of people justify a violent against “them” with the movement and I think that’s worth noting bc the push is for peace, and that mentality does so much harm to people not on a side. seen so many people pushed away from shit bc of “kill all men” kind of “feminists”.

Back in the 80’s there was a masculinity crisis due to a few diff factors but a main one being that with all of these movements going on from the 60s/70s it’s disrupting the status quo and the familiarity that straight white men were dealing with and with the change of what’s the man women “wanted” it created discomfort and a basically cross.

Feminism also touches base with toxic masculinity, and how it harms men and is one of the reasons why men have a higher suicide rate. It discusses patriarchal issues that not only pushed down woman, but push down men. Don’t confuse feminism with misandry. Those are two different terms, and you clearly cannot differentiate the two.

No, but you’re confusing the term for feminism with the term for misandry, I feel like that was quite obvious and I made that quite clear.

yeah i was mindblown when I learned there was a whole men’s rights movement in response to the feminist movement in the 70s. The group split & one group was men who were pro feminist and trying to deconstruct their patriarchal societal roles and the other was made up of people who were antifeminist & thought men were oppressed and women were not

there are different approaches to feminism. A lot of approaches are critiqued by other feminists, for example the western approach to feminism is critiqued a lot

the statements in the post can all be true of movements as a whole, my only point is to make sure we hold each other accountable bc we will never be able to convince swing voters we’re right with that violent, blindly hating mindset that those movements themselves are meant to go against from the other side. fire with fire gains no sympathy and loses elections
