It’s nothing incredibly specific but each time issues woc face specifically are brought up or posts even acknowledging we have different experiences (I know bc I’ve made some of those posts) get downvoted to hell, has a lot of deflecting in the comments, or just blatant disregard for the fact that we experience misogyny differently. Or take whatever was happening a couple days/weeks ago on here with ppl being more outraged that a girl’s boyfriend assaulted a racist than the fact that the guy was
racist and little to no posts about that but a bunch about the retaliation. That’s a common pattern each time something about poc (regardless of the gender of the person) gets brought up here. I’ve also interacted with and seen multiple posts from other woc who have talked about how they left this sub bc of the microagressions either thrown at them or comments about poc to begin with or the obvious racial blind spots/privileged comments on here
I’m aware, I agree, and I see that. That HOWEVER doesn’t change their reactions. Their reactions being more focused on the guy than the person posting it (which were what a lot of comments/posts were about) and only calling him the issue instead of the person provoking it is a problem. It’s clear based on who they’re focused on in the conversation. Ntm majority of the posts (bc I ended up blocking a few people on their posts) were dragging the guy who was targeted and nothing else
And that’s what I mean. Bc I’ve posted before about misogynoir specifically and how it feels to be a black woman (the same way literally every other woman on here does) in this sub and the intersection of misogyny and racism that gets ignored and almost every single one of those posts were downvoted severely or met with a lot of resistance
Idk if you saw it but I have been watching ppl downvote the comments talking about how woc have different experiences (which is literally proving the point and something I already mentioned in one of my comments) but it’s clear we’re not supposed to acknowledge the difference in our treatment. I get what you’re saying though. I’ve had so many weird experiences with ppl I didn’t expect to have them with just bc I’m black and a woman and it happens so blatantly even in public (like the stares)
I saw it and thank you. I wasn’t sure whether to be annoyed bc ppl were proving the point in real time or laugh because I expect to be downvoted atp whenever bringing up how woc are treated specifically in any sub whether it’s race specific or gender specific bc this is almost always the reaction
