Sometimes I think about how the most famous ancient philosophers are men, not because of intellectual superiority but because the majority of women were not educated or even literate. Does anyone else mourn those women too? I want to know their ideas. 💔

YES I THINK ALL THE TIME ABOUT HOW ARISTOTLE WAS EDUCATED ALONGSIDE FEMALE PEERS UNDER PLATO AND THEN REFUSED TO EDUCATE WOMEN HIMSELF AND HAD A PHILSOPHY THAT WOMEN WERE HALF FORMED MEN INSTEAD OF FULL PEOPLE AND SHOULDNT HAVE RIGHTS AND YET EVERYONE LOVES ARISTOTLE

ugh true :/ but you’re so right, i always think of that quote that’s like “how may beethoven’s stood over a sink instead of a piano” like the amount of talent that could have been witnessed but that was lost bc women didn’t have the same opportunities as men breaks my heart :(

I think it would be cool for people to see them! I know they exist. It’s just sad knowing how few of them there were (or at least that were documented) in antiquity.
