i can tell my man is struggling but he refuses to open up and tell me what’s wrong please how can i help him without being too pushy so he doesn’t shut me out even more

deadass if he’s too emotionally immature to talk about his feelings that’s his choice. you’re not his therapist you’re not a mental health professional there’s only so much you can do. if he’s shutting you out that’s his choice

ok maybe refuse and shut out were the wrong words. he’s shared lots of past trauma with me as well as that he’s working with his therapist to try to break down walls he’s built bc of it. i can see he wants to tell me but physically can’t bring himself to

he needs to be in therapy. this is not something you have the skill or knowledge to handle bc you aren’t a trained professional. trust me ik, i had to go for the same exact reason. he needs to talk to someone who will be able to help him work through his trauma

because it’s a huge work n progress and a huge possibility. been there, sticking it out with someone until they’re at better place can be extremely exhausting on the other end because it’s hard to be there for someone who isn’t giving you anything to work with.

he is in therapy and has made so much progress and i’m so proud of him. i’ve met some of his friends from back home and ive been told that they havnt seen him so happy in years. but i know hes still working through so much and all i want is to help carry some of the burden so he can breathe
