the point of bringing back the VS show was not reliving 2015 and seeing unending comments about “gym motivation” and “starving myself” and “i need to lock in” from grown ass women for all the teen girls online to see

i think adriana is a really good example of what i’m talking about. not now in 2025, but back around 2016 she was putting in the WORK. i also think barbara is super healthy looking and pretty realistic.

It’s not gym motivation? It’s a fashion show & grown women insecure about how they look are making wild ass statements about what they think women should look like, and how they think they should starve for it, for little kids to see. troll ass comment.

i mean… i don’t think it’s wrong to look at a girl who’s in shape and think of their body as inspo. VS angels aren’t built like they used to be, most of them are just very lean and clearly work out really hard. last night’s show also had a ton of body diversity.

gym motivation on its own is fine. but you’re genuinely stupid if you can’t put it in context alongside the comments about starving yourself and body negativity. it’s not about gym motivation it’s promoting ED behavior

that being said, publicly saying things like “starving myself!” is INSANE

it’s not about taking “inspo” from other women’s bodies, although you will NEVER look the same as someone else please focus on your own potential ffs, and i’m not talking about women feeling seen through diverse bodies, i’m talking about the opposite: women seeing bella hadid and saying they’re going to stop eating because they want to look more like someone else. can we PLEASE leave that shit behind.

it’s not gym motivation, it’s not jokes, it’s just a return to normalizing ED culture where “not eating” was considered the best way to lose weight

Guess what I don’t give a fvk. I’m intelligent enough to distinguish a dream from reality. If you guys can’t do that, you shouldn’t be on the Internet. Hypersensitive af.

I’m not the 35 year old woman who wants to be Gigi Hadid, I’m concerned those deranged women making ED jokes are going to impact the minds of 13 year olds. YOU are a fucking troll & I would block you again if it didn’t prevent my from conversing with other people. Stop engaging w my post it’s giving MAN.

intelligent is a funny word to describe someone who can’t look outside their own perspective for .5 seconds to realize that (like op said) young girls are going to see those comments and internalize them

Self hated is not a good motivator

The reason they look that way is because they can spend the entire day of every year on their looks and are soft core anorexic, there's already numerous ex models talking about it. It's not what it's cracked up to be. Half of them need extensions in their hair, from the lack of, due to starvation.

On top of the fact that they have 24/7 access to free trainers, nutritionists, plenty of ways to access drugs to stop appetite, access to plastic surgery.... using them as motivation is possibly the dumbest thing you can do for your mental health.

mostly playing devil’s advocate but models that work out a lot are def not on ozempic. nobody can be that muscular while not eating. people also forget that a woman who’s 5’10+ has higher maintenance calories than someone who’s 5’4, so it takes less of a deficit for them to lose weight.

i apologize, but do y’all consider most of those models to be “that” muscular? because the body comp may be more lean… but most of the women people are commenting on do not have “built” physiques. if you look at gigi, candice, Adrianna, they are all lean but just by looking at their legs you can see they aren’t built, they are exceptionally slim which is why you see abs (not to nitpick but… let’s be fr about genetics and body fat percentage v. muscle growth)

I love Bella, and I’m sure she exercises and gets her protein it, etc. but this is not a woman who has significant muscle mass. She is eating, for her height, low calories. Her priorities are clearly body fat percentage not actually having the muscle mass to eat a healthy amount of calories

i accidentally posted instead of replying sorry queen. i would never say bella is muscular. i’m sure she works out heavily but i completely agree with you

Adriana was definitely putting in work! But I still don’t think her physique or training was geared toward gaining muscle mass, and that’s all I’m saying. They are all relatively lean women with less muscle mass compared to someone who trains for muscle hypertrophy. Their workouts (boxing, pilates, other forms of cardio, and very specific limitations when doing strength training even in their promotional content) generally point to that. Even in 2016.

They are not muscular/muscular build in the slightest, that goes against their original whole beauty standard. The reason you can see their muscles/they look toned is because they're constantly in caloric deficit and working out.

I'm also cautioning y'all, of course a model is going to fabricate her routine if she doesn't want y'all to know how she actually does it.... like come on.

I'd also bet there are other factors that have nothing to do with 'motivation' I'm sure those models didn't grow up "overweight" or didn't have overweight family parents + poor genes.

I'm saying this cuz I used to have terrible body image. I used these types of things to punish myself, under-eat and defend them. The reality for me was that I'm not built to look like that, and that's fine! I'm beautiful anyway, the best thing I did was look to normal people with my similar height, shape, musculature for fitness inspiration.

it’s hard bc i have a sister who’s 6’0, she eats really good and she works out. she’s lean and muscular, very similar to a lot of girls in this year’s VS show.,she could definitely do runway if she wanted. when she was younger she was ana* and there’s such a clear difference in physique. i hate assuming the worst about people’s lifestyles

i also grew up with a lot of dancers who ate constantly and had insane abs. i wasn’t one of them because i’m simply not built like that, but very few of the very-skinny girls i know are starving themselves idk
