you are right but your wording is confusing OP. let me clear this up. in the midwest there is a Matthew Ingalls and his mom has had people committing vandalism to her house and breaking windows as a fucked up act of “justice” or whatever. point is— obviously not the same Ingalls household, but their address got posted online and they are still getting floods of mail threating to kill them because people online think they know everything. thats why i said my og comment too

I did read her police statements — including the ones from the day after, a few days later, and weeks later. That’s actually part of why I feel the way I do. You can see how her account and understanding of what happened developed as she had more time to process it.

Trauma, especially after sexual assault, does not require someone to immediately have a perfectly organized, detailed understanding of what happened to them. Memory can initially be fragmented, and people can disclose or make sense of details over time.

OP you are completely right, as a victim myself I went through this same process, which is why I believe her, but there are a few actually strange pieces of evidence including her texting one of the frat guys about a month later saying “i love you, king” and “if anybody gives you shit send them to me, ill fuck them up” (paraphrasing) which is really really fucking strange behavior. we just need to wait and learn more about the case as it unfolds

I understand where your coming from, and I recognize that there are two sides to the story. Yes, there are conflicting statements and text messages from her that deserve to be considered. But there is also her account: she says roughly 90% of what happened was not consensual and that she only agreed to have sex with two of the seven men. I’ve been in a similar situation myself, and I also have a background in psychology and an understanding of trauma.

From both perspectives, I know that someone’s behavior after an assault does not necessarily tell you whether the original encounter was consensual. Trauma responses can be extremely complicated. A person may continue talking to, seek connection with, or even become attached to someone who assaulted them, and that does not automatically mean an assault didn’t occur. That’s why I think the entire picture matters, not just selected texts afterward.

She also filed a detailed lawsuit describing what she says happened. There are conflicting pieces of evidence, but in my view there is substantial information supporting her allegation, and her post-event behavior alone doesn’t disprove it.

Now a whole family that has nothing to do the case is getting harassed and their property is getting vandalized because people online took it upon themselves to try to deliver justice and are actually just making the situation worse.
