i work in a law firm and the number of people (even someone that works for us) don’t know what pronouns are??? like you use them every day, what do you mean you don’t know what they are

i accidentally called a woman wearing a maga hat sir and got cussed out 😩 also may have called a man ma’am on purpose when i saw him get out of a car that had a bumper stick abt not caring for pronouns and he did not like being called ma’am

i’m okay with offending magasses but like this person was nonbinary i guess and it was when people first started really caring about pronouns. i was at work and worked in cosmetics, i accidentally misgendered them and they flipped out on me.

because we ask demographics questions for funding report purposes so we theoretically have to ask every client that question, so most of the time i just assume to avoid the verbal harassment

which sounds bad but since most of our clients are from a rural area it’s safe to say i’m right 99.9% of the time

it’s not even just older people, some of the people who don’t know are closer in age to me than some of the attorneys in the office
