Imagine finally paying off your student debt and decide to have a baby and get slapped with way more debt, I’m good. By the time I can afford my first house, I’ll be going through menopause

With my insurance I would pay $500 for the annual max out of pocket, then everything else would be covered.

right exactly. The amount they ended up paying is probably still more than most people have in their bank account. imagine you have a whole newborn baby AND immense debt.

Yep, and if you’re full time, after 4 years at top scale you’re making $45 an hour. I drive semi and when the contract is up in 2028 I’ll be making a hair under $50 an hour. Overtime is anything over 8 hours a day, so the money is great. Our facility sucks ass as far as morale and I have to fight to get anything, and they treat women like garbage, but the insurance alone is worth it. Not to mention having a $5-7k a month pension someday when I retire in 25 years.

It would take me 32 years working at my current salary, no taxes, no spending on anything else to be able to afford this. And I have a “good job”.

that baby was in the NICU so if it had been a home birth the chances of the baby living would be very slim
