that statement they gave, and the comments under it, basically confirmed to me that AE does not care about the WOC who were purchasing from them ~at all~ they didn’t even acknowledge other perspectives

Looks photoshopped to me tbh. “Genes” is more crisp than the rest of the text.

you can talk about white supremacist dog whistles and major advertisement campaigns and the “geopolitical and economic state of the world”

if you knew literally anything then you’d know these subjects go hand in hand…

It’s not. AE had it posted on Instagram as a video where she’s actively ‘crossing it out’ and putting up ‘jeans’.

dw girl all these ppl saying “this is supporting eugenics, it’s just media literacy!” don’t even have enough regular literacy to know what eugenics is

so you can think about geopolitics but you can’t recognize propaganda within an ad lmao

y’all hate it when two things can be true at once and/or happen at once and it’s annoying as fuck

Eugenics isn’t just experimenting on Black women whthout anaesthesia and operating on twins using experimental drugs. There’s decades of rhetoric and bullshit before those points, during, and after. Again, your inability to grasp that does not negate it.

in short: eugenics is trying to find a way for people to have children with the most “desirable” traits. SO when you have an ad for jeans, but only show a blonde girl with blue eyes (traits deemed desirable by society) talking about genes (hair and eye color as an example) being passed from parents to their kids and an voiceover saying she has “good genes/jeans” people are gonna look at it weird…

not to mention THIS. AND when we FINALLY SAW the jeans (bc they didn't even advertise them) they were very ill fitting on her. further proving that the focus isn't even on the jeans, but on HER and the "good jeans" she got from her parents.
