I just realized that the big beautiful bill basically made it so that the only people that can go into law and medicine are generational wealth, which means the people in power will continue to be the people in power and in high paying jobs

Wait can you elaborate please? I’m trying to go to law school but I definitely don’t have generational wealth 🥴

I'm not the most educated on the topic so I urge you to do your own research but here's and article that quickly explains it https://www.insidehighered.com/news/government/politics-elections/2025/07/04/big-beautiful-bill-means-big-changes-higher-ed

as someone trying to go to medical school and also does not have generational wealth, i gotchu 😙 the big booty bill is putting a limit on federal student loans that a person can take in a lifetime. i think the overall cap is ~275k? (might wanna check that), i don’t remember off the top of my head what the cap is for undergrad, it’s 100k for grad and 200k for professional schools (law, med)

+ we’ll basically be stuck with private loans which unless you or a co-signer have a high credit score, isn’t as accessible. there’s more that i remember vaguely (you’ll probably want to double check) but stuff abt grandfathering loans? i’ve also seen ‘grad plus loans’ being thrown in conversation but tbh am not sure what those are and have been meaning to check. vet students are also being screwed over bc they’re not being counted as professional schools so they have an even smaller cap🫠
