Ok how do you make yourself save because I’m so undisciplined. My bills get paid, but it’s so hard to save leftovers when I have a Depop and Sephora wishlists calling my name😭

I usually do a 70/30 ratio of saving and spending and I try to only use cash.

i put half my paycheck into my savings the second it hits my bank account and i don’t take anything out of my savings. obviously that’s a little extreme but you could choose a much lower percentage like even 10% or 20% into savings. it will rack up a lot quicker than you think. u can also just always keep ur checking at a certain maximum like $500 so if u end up with over that, move it to your savings. then u can only spend that amount for the pay period or month or whatever u decide.

I dont download shopping apps so I have to use the website if I really want something! the only like really big interest I have requires me to go in stores to buy it and there aren’t really any stores for it where I live lol

I work evening/overnight weekend shifts so I get differential pay lol I don’t really have any big really expensive interests and I’m not a big shopper in general. Most of the stuff I have is secondhand and my electronics are all older versions. I dont really buy a bunch of small things. I usually save up and make one big purchase for something I really want

don’t scroll through shopping apps or interact with shopping content on the internet tbh. also don’t sign up for texts or emails from brands or websites. you can’t want it if you don’t know it exists! most of the stuff I own is secondhand. you also definitely do not need the newest version of electronics. I still have an Xbox 360 and Wii that work great lol my computer is 5 years old now and I can still run new games on it, I’m only upgrading cause I have the money to get what I really want now!

I also don’t scroll through shopping apps/websites or sign up for texts or emails from them. I don’t watch content about people buying things so tbh I don’t even know what gets released lol. a lot of the clothes I have I’ve had since I was in like 9th grade 💀 and whenever I want something I let it sit for a long time before buying it and most of the time I end up not wanting it anymore

I don’t think it’s extreme. I actually put my whole paycheck into savings and then I just keep $200 on my card at a time and I don’t allow myself to move any money out of my savings unless my checking drops to $50 or unless I absolutely have too. And I try to be super disciplined throughout the month on what kind of stuff I’m actually buying.
