I just read the original statement… I’m finding it unclear exactly how the events as first described were not enough to constitute rape. She swatted his hand away, more than once, and he thought that meant it was time to “grope” her? It also says they “end[ed] up on the bed” and began to have a threesome, but the whole sequence of events leading up to and proceeding that just seems like pressure after pressure.

consent is given freely, enthusiastically, and while sober. If someone went to this place where they were holding her, as a captive, they would have seen that she was unconscious and/or inebriated. They were forcing ketamine down her throat on their penises to keep her immobilized. There is no excuse for any of them. “Free pussy” rarely means anything consensual is happening. No one called the police during or afterwards. Nobody questioned what was happening. Nobody cared about her life or safety

Great point. Let me break it down for you: free pussy, in your terms, would mean a woman willing to give her sober, informed consent. Consent can be revoked at any time. Consent can't be given when you are intoxicated beyond the point of rational decision-making. From the point Jane Doe was at the bar, arguably, she could not consent.

upvote 19 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous 2d

Right, so you missed my point above, which the DA said he agrees with. Victims can remember more of a traumatic event as time goes on. Honestly, more time to process what happened actually gives her time to build her case. I don't blame her for being unable to process and recount a traumatizing event; that was widespread on campus. That's a big reason people don't report. Not to mention the secondary victimization she is currently going through.

The media buzz and obvious public outrage stem from a collection of filings made last week, news reports, and statements from Jane Doe and the accused attorneys. The outrage comes from the fact that 57 men in that Snapchat group chat read past “free pussy” and didn't sound the alarm. If the police had been on the scene, maybe there would be toxicology reports rather than just accounts, but no one did. Here we are.

That is a very subjective way of looking at it though? For example, if a guy was drugged and used for sex by multiple women, didn’t say yes, and didn’t like it? It would be, by definition, rape as well. I agree that there are women who misuse the word or even abuse it, report innocent men who they just didn’t like (after) and make actual victims of rape look bad or unbelievable though. But most of the time that isn’t the case, no sane person wants to be known as a victim. Let alone of rape.

I think you misread what I wrote or misinterpreted. I was saying that the reason I said she was drugged (she didn’t specify that but I interpreted as so) was because she went there to have fun with a friend and she ended up getting raped while incapacitated. She was absusdd by her friend AND others. The previous person I replied to said that I specified something that Jane Doe didn’t report.

You can’t consent if you’re under the influence especially when you’re on psychedelics. Hope this helps

Sure but once again that’s still incredibly common and shouldn’t be used to discredit her considering it’s literally part of victimology. Also I just saw her original story and she said she was raped 🤷‍♀️

She wasn’t just drunk, she was high on a psychedelic. She had never taken it before, she probably didn’t have any idea what day it was. They made her consume more drugs than she wanted to, they slapped her until she did then they grabbed and raped her. She was pushing them away and trying to hide her naked body from them. Stop normalizing rape

I’m not denying that it isn’t possible that her story changing is just part of victimology, but it’s also possible she did consent, like her original report says.

They were all all the same drugs, one of the guys literally passed out, if she couldn’t consent then neither could they
