I don’t understand people like this because what do you mean you supported a racist, homophobic, misogynistic lying weirdo? Now all of a sudden you don’t. What made you support this person to begin with? Was it him being racist or misogynistic? Pls
A year ago today I was a kirk supporter 🤢never again. #anangelgainedherwings

Like you realize that the things that he supported have been happening way before he even came into it, so you cannot sit here and tell me that you were not educated on what was happening, because honey it’s always been clear as day. Then you’re a woman at that. How do you support someone who hates you? I don’t get it.

My parents are maga and still are. I grew up being taught things I shouldn’t have been taught, it wasnt my choice to like trump, my parents forced me to like him ! They don’t support me now that I don’t support trump and they don’t support that my boyfriend is hispanic. I had a on this day on tiktok of a post that I posted talking about kirk and how I supported him, I posted that because to me seeing how I acted a year ago, I was acting a fool for my parents and I just thought it was funny

Reminder that alienating people who started agreeing with you more recently is not a good strategy. Just be glad she came to her senses.

No, it does not make sense because you are a grown person; you can think for yourself. I understand that at the time being that you were in a household, surrounded by people who had opinions that were not right, but it’s no longer your parents’ fault when you became an adult; you made a decision to not do research. You made a decision to not look at how it affects other people; that was your decision as an adult.

So the excuse “my parents…” does not fly with me when you are a grown adult who can make your own decisions. Whether your parents agree or not at some point, you know right from wrong. Especially as a woman, how can you support someone who does not like you? And then you are dating someone who is also heavily affected by what is going on in this world. How can you date someone and then turn around and support something that goes against him?

I’m sorry, but no, I just cannot have sympathy for people who choose to support those opinions regardless of whether she changed her mind or formed a new opinion. I do not care. The stuff has been happening in this country for too long. It’s not rocket science to understand that racism affects people, homophobia affects people, and misogynistic stereotypes affect people.

You don’t have to have sympathy. You can just ignore them because alienating them is NOT productive. In fact, it’s counterproductive. I get being frustrated, but you have to get some perspective. A house divided cannot stand.
