I’ve surprisingly never met anyone with food allergies, I was just surprised to learn that my local schools are all nut free now. (Which is good obvi), but I grew up eating peanut butter sandwich’s practically for breakfast lunch and dinner haha. I just never knew food allergies were so prevalent
this is part of the reason why. it was mistakenly recommended by doctors in the early 2000s to not introduce peanut butter until they’re a toddler. not introducing the possible allergin early caused allergy rates to skyrocket. once people realized what was happening they changed the guidelines, but I bet a lot of people are wary or still go by the old ones
it’s also possible that the current vaccine schedule increases the likelihood of developing autoimmune/allergies in people who are genetically predisposed. However in many cases the risk is worth taking, and it can be avoided to some extent by doing the CDC delayed vaccine schedule
