Cat can sustain itself - but there is more companionship with a dog (IMO - but u will find yourself feeling neglectful w a doggy - i have leavin my baby and will not work passed like 8ish hours)

Cats are superior no shade to dogs. If you’ve never had a cat, I suggest you get one. They are genuinely really good pets. But adding your situation and I would definitely get a cat because they are more self-sufficient than dogs. If you got a dog you would probably have to hire somebody to walk it while you are working

I’ve had both! But a lot more experience with dogs and love the lifestyle I can have with a dog. I would be able to afford a dog walker/doggie daycare but yeah it’s still not as good as me being there for the dog. I do feel like a cat might the best option at my stage of life. Do you have any experience owning multiple cats? I feel like I would want them to have a friend

Did you adopt as a bonded pair or separately? I’ve only had one cat and he would do very poorly with another cat so I guess I just wonder about how to introduce them to each other peacefully

Don’t mind if I step in, but I have lived with two cats almost my whole life. Two different pairs. They were both not bonded and both adopted separately. Both of the already existing counts got scared once we introduced in the new cat, but eventually they both became best friends ❤️

i adopted separately as well like #1! first kitty is younger (she was like 8 months when we got her big brother) so we opted for a slightly older cat (2 yo). we used the jackson galaxy method but altered, we gave them free reign in chunks of time and swapped their bedding a lot until our girl cat didn’t respond (she was very nervous but boy cat was fine with others).

I can afford a dog walker and/or daycare. I’m not gonna mistreat a dog lmao

u would be surprised to learn just how many ppl would just keep their dogs inside for the 12 hrs everyday. hence why so many ppl in apartments have shit trained dogs, they get them and invest no time or effort. if u wanna put all tht time and effort into ur dogs, have time for work, and have time for ur free time then by all means go for it
