I know it's not proper camping and all, but I live for nights like these. In the bed of the truck parked up here in the woods, mattress and duvet of one of the day-beds, rain hitting the camper shell roof and windows, curled up with him. This is bliss🙂↕️Personally I would go for a truck over any kinda SUV. His is an absolute beauty of an ‘82 F-150, thankfully 𝙣𝙤𝙩 the 2WD model, real nice red color. It was his one of the farm/ranch trucks his family had for the past 40 years and over the years they did some pretty good modification work on it(refitted a bunch of stuff so it could take the 6.6L V8 made for the F-350 including modifying the drivetrain for the extra strain)Also thankfully not an annoying lift-kit but slightly elevated suspension
I really do love our nights in the truck though. Yeah I love proper camping too, but there’s so much less setup here, just the mattress, duvet, and maybe one of the big heated blankets. Putting the camper shell on it turns it into our own lil world and I absolutely love that. Heck, even when we’re not on the property. One of the things we did in our senior year of high school once Covid hit was drive down and spend the night on the beach like that. Sound of the waves, but all cozy and warm.
I mean, were we allowed to do that? No, beach patrol probably should’ve asked us to leave but with it being Covid and all, I think they realized it wasn’t worth the hassle. We did it quite a few times, particularly early on since lockdown meant that most people weren’t on the beach. Mind you this was a really out of the way beach and it was never crowded to begin with, but it was a nice little getaway.
