So obviously God isn’t male, as he shouldn’t he held to mortal standards. But non-binary isn’t the right term either. That’s a gender identity humans use to describe themselves. God exhibits both stereotypical ideas of what we attribute to male and female humans. But we have simply started to refer to Him as “Him”. As people typically struggle to understand this concept. My theology professor preferrers the pronouns “Godself”. As he is outside of our mortal pronouns and deserves his own
i don’t believe in mythology but i can agree with you that not everyone believes in the same thing. i know that my God is real though and i don’t like posts going against him. you’re right though you and others are allowed to have your own opinions but personally i didn’t like the post
You do believe in mythology. Your “god” is just as real as any of the thousands of others and how you view it isn’t even the same as your family or friends do. You’re free to scroll on by or block if you don’t like a post, just the same as you’re free to comment. Others are going to get a laugh out of it, though.
And “he” was used as a default pronoun in English for centuries, even for women or gender-ambiguous or non-binary people as well. It’s really not that surprising that gendered language will use said genders— even less so for using masculine pronouns in patriarchal societies. Anyway— your god is just another one of many to come from the Levant and surrounding regions, and isn’t even wholly original. One amongst tens of thousands throughout all of human history.
chromosomes have nothing to do with gender identity. and God made us in Their image, men and women. itd be ridiculous to say that God is a man. no, They are more than that. so to call Them nonbinary is at least a little more accurate, as They are beyond simply being one gender, based on our understanding of the concept of gender
I’m sorry, that’s just not true. Christianity is the only truth, it isn’t based on any other religion. It is original because it is just true. And anything else you said is just ridiculous. I do hate to burst your bubble, there is no such thing as non-binary. Sorry. My original point still stands too, but God wrote the Bible through us and He used the He/Him pronouns whenever they would refer to Him, so guess what? We’re gonna call Him Him.
Non-binary people exist, always have and always will. Your god, however, doesn’t. It was a minor storm god recycled from earlier Canaanite beliefs. You’ve had two millennia to prove anything, and yet have turned up with nothing. Archaeology, biology, linguistics, sociology— they all debunk your religion’s claims, just the same as every other one. You’re welcome to believe your mythology all you’d like. What you’re not going to do is try to force it on others or use it to harm minorities.
Okay well I disagree with you. I think gender identity is just the same as your gender and your gender is based on chromosomes. That’s a separate issue though. And did you even read my reply? I didn’t say God is a man. I said God is referred to as a He in the Bible. I mean that’s what God wrote Himself, so why can’t you guys just respect that?
Cool, gender and sex are not the same. Neither are binary, neither are immutable. Your books were written by humans, for humans, to control and enslave other humans. You’re in a death cult and surrounded by disinformation and cognitive dissonance. I hope you get help and leave the cult soon.
Yeah okay what I don’t understand is there’s not necessarily a strict definition for a man or woman when it comes to socially. Obviously there’s only two genders biologically, but when it comes to this nonbinary stuff, I just still don’t get it. If I’m biologically a girl and dress and act less ladylike, would that make me nonbinary? How do you measure who’s nonbinary and who’s not? How would you yourself know?
