it must be your shampoo

I don’t know what your hair type is but what helped me is washing my hair more frequently, using a strong clarifying once a month to remove build up, rotating my shower caps and bonnets, and not using super heavy hair products

Do you ever use dandruff shampoo?

I haven’t changed shampoos. I have a rotation of redone extreme length and olaplex clarifying. I usually would wash with extreme length twice a week and olaplex once but lately i’ve been washing more bc it smells bad 😭😭 i’ve also been having some hormonal issues but im not sure if that has any relation. it’s been the last like two months

I also started using a curl refresher spray and it smells really nice so I use it after I wash my hair and then spray throughout the week if my hair gets dry

I have 2b hair, but i’m white so I do usually wash it a few times a week bc it’ll get greasy. i’ve been washing my hair every day or every other day since this started happening and it doesn’t help like I have maybe 5 hours after it drys before it starts to smell weird it’s so frustrating

Are you going to sleep with your hair wet? Sometimes that can cause a mildew smell especially if your hair is thick

Or sometimes if you cook a lot or are in an area that smells strong that scent can attach to your hair?

no 😭 I always make sure it’s either fully air dried or blow dried before I go to sleep 🥲🥲 I also live in a dorm so there’s not really anything that could attach. it’s rlly just my scalp like the bottom of my hair smells like morning. sometimes it’s not even greasy and it’ll smell like it’ll be freshly blown out and there could be a smell 😭 and this never used to be an issue like i’ve changed nothing about my routine

Hmm I’m not sure? Normally your hair produces sebum which has a slight smell depending on how often you sweat but if it’s super strong it’s either scalp build up or some sort of condition that maybe a dermatologist might need to look at?

But if you’re trying to mask the smell I think good scented hair products are the way to go
