I literally refuse if they don’t have on them. Like it’s not my job to be responsible for them, it goes on your penis. And lowkey I fuck with celibacy

I helped do research on this & rates of STDs are skyrocketing and have been since BC has become more popular. A lot of ppl in our generation were pretty much taught raw sex=pregnancy and not raw sex=potentially deadly virus so nobody even thinks abt syphillis anymore

Genuinely!! When did we stop being terrified of STDs?? When did we stop worrying about pregnancy? I don’t even like dudes but imagine being so unbothered by the idea of paying child support. whats wrong with you dog-

I just… it’s really crazy to me that it’s expected we take birth control pills, morning after pills, iuds, etc, but guys struggle with condoms. My boyfriend will wear them all day long if it means being with me, and I love that about him. He recently got these super thin ones online, too, so we can feel more together. I think guys get this ‘horny brain’, and they imagine what their ‘friends would say’. Honestly, if you ask me, before you date a guy, meet his friends.

My boyfriend and I have used condoms for the entire three years we’ve been together and only stopped because I got an IUD. Condoms are expensive asf but they are NECESSARY.

Came here to recommend female condoms! So much better for both parties!! However, the US FDA approved ones suck ass. Buy the international ones from Norway and have the best protected sex of your life. You’re welcome! 😌

Seriously!! Even if I’m not actively planning, if I *think* there’s even a 1% chance I may want to be intimate with a guy, I bring them, but also expect him to have some at least at home.

this is real but also consider: it’s also become so normalized to have sex with people you wouldn’t trust having bc a child with, or even to tell you if they have an STD. I’m a victim of this too but interesting to consider how shallow hookup culture really is

Not even just that but the culture around it, like I’d ALWAYS ask guys I was seeing if they had gotten tested lately and more often than not it was a long time ago, if ever. Also downplaying STDs like “cold sores”. Idc if you’re not having an active break out I deserve to know everything if you are going to be swapping fluids with me dawg

I personally can tell the difference and prefer it without condoms . But I only do that with the science of what part of my cycle I'm at and what the percentage risk would be

There is a very minor difference, but it’s not significant enough to risk stds and pregnancy. We really should be more careful about accidentally getting pregnant at a time when abortion is illegal

genuinely i am more scared of stds than i am of getting pregnant. i can’t remember the last time i met a man who had ever been tested, my own bf had NEVER been tested until i said we should go together before we started being intimate. i get tested every 6 months even in monogamous relationships

AND it’s scary to me that people continue to believe HIV is a “gay” or “drug addict” disease. THE GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN UPDATED ON WHO SHOULD GET TESTED AND WHEN!!! STRAIGHT INDIVIDUALS CAN TAKE PREP!! and that even though many stds are curable now, so many people don’t understand the long term health concerns if not caught soon enough!!!

Is prep also for female patients now? Sorry I hate using “female” but it’s medically relevant since trans women can take it, but last time I checked it was only for AMAB people :/ also I think you were getting at this, but I believe new cases are actually more common in cis straight people now, or at least less common in gay men. STDs don’t care who you are!

Always has been for anyone who wants/needs it! It’s just some shitty doctors who refuse to prescribe it because of their notions of cishetnormativity and, of course, ignoring the needs of cis women.

Doesn’t help that so much of sex education across the US is outdated, lacks correct information, and emphasises abstinence over safe practices.
