It’s funny how most people think it’s okay to be fatphobic if the person is mean or rude but most ppl know better not be racist just bc someone’s being rude. Conditional acceptance is not acceptance

YES and interpersonal fatphobia is the tip of the iceberg compared to institutional discrimination against Americans of AVERAGE and higher weights

I agree that you shouldn’t be fatphobic conditionally when you feel the urge to weaponize it against someone you feel is deserving. But I do believe it is a much lesser evil than racism, people weren’t enslaved or lynched for their weight, I believe that’s why people are more okay with weaponizing it. I also assume some people try to justify it be believing they’re not fatphobic but they want to use as soft spot to dig into assuming their victim is sensitive about their weight.

Not that that makes it right. That’s just what I assume the mindset is.

Honestly like lesser evil or otherwise fat phobia comes from racism and stuff like that that- no one is trying to see which is worse when we have ppl dying from both. Like u can care abt 2 issues why are we ranking which is worse

It’s also super intertwined with racism and sexism insofar as black women are going to experience a much worse version of fatphobia etc. - we gotta get intersectional

And also classism! Income gaps and poverty is a huge contributing factor. Fat people are paid less, are less likely to obtain housing and discriminated against, and face systemic barriers to proper healthcare access
