I work as a mental health tech in an inpatient mental health facility and I hate it so so so so much it’s made me not even want to be a therapist anymore
Just curious, what about it is so bad? Is it the job itself, the specific facility, patients, management, etc.?

I genuinely think about crashing my car on the way to work everyday

basically everything. the pay, the facility itself, management, my coworkers, the patients. I work in intake and so I deal with people who are drunk, high, angry, violent and it’s so draining

Mmm I see :( that’s so disappointing. Is this mental health what you’re trying to do as a career or is this like a just for now kind of job?

yeah I’m getting a degree in psychology and I wanted to be a therapist but I really don’t want to anymore

I feel like it could be different, but obviously you know that field better than I do. I owe my life to mental health professionals, so I’ll always advocate for people who are genuinely interested in pursuing that. I also 100% understand how draining that career is though :/
