my lukewarm take of the day is that religion shouldn’t be taught in schools… matter of fact it shouldn’t even be in schools at all to begin with. forcing religion on kids let alone anyone is fucking weird.

I think teaching religion is okay as in teaching about the different religions to learn about cultures ect.

at least in public education i agree, it’s federally funded and pushing the 10 commandments and stuff to be taught in schools as the rules everyone must follow to “lead a good life” because it’s biblically rooted is a direct violation of the separation of church and state

This is a HOT TAKE. I agree 100000%. I stopped talking to my family bc they forced religion on me to the point I had to get help. ( I’m wayyy better now)

I agree that it shouldn’t be taught but I think religions should be respected by schools. Like having a prayer room for students who need to pray at a specific time of day for their religions. It’s also cool to learn about different religious/spiritual stories and seeing the overlap

i think they mean like taught in a way that’s forcing them to be in that religion. like you have to say the 10 commandments in the morning even if it’s not a religious school

yeah i’m not saying it should be respected i think a lot of people are misunderstanding me. i’m saying that we shouldn’t be forcing kids to adhere to any religion and that indoctrinating them is wrong. i’m glad i’m no longer in elementary/middle/high school where kids are being forced to adhere to things they don’t have to.

For me it’s where you said “it shouldn’t be in schools at all to begin with” that your point got skewed, I’m guessing that’s where it is for everyone. Anyways I do agree with you, also gonna add the pledge of allegiance. Why tf is that a thing for children who don’t even know what allegiance means 😭

forced religion shouldn’t be in schools. schools shouldn’t be indoctrinating kids when it comes to religion. learning about them is one thing and forcing them to believe in/adhere to a god is another. the only time it would make sense to me in the slightest is if it was at a private school or institution.
