Need advice. Going to doc this week and it says I’m “overdue” for Pap/std testing so ik the doc will want me to get that done. Issue is I’m not sexually active and the last time was very very painful and lowkey traumatic. How can I stand up for myself

Paps are also painful but my Dr is always like you “ know what else is painful? Cancer” so u should get checked for any abnormalities in the cervix even if you’re not active..

It’s very important to get your pap whether you’re sexually active or not. Be upfront with your doctor about your previous experience, ask them to tell you what they’re about to do each step of the way, ask to use a smaller speculum if they can, ask to insert it yourself if you want, but get it done.

Pap you should definitely do, std can wait but you can also get it through other ways. If you’re more comfortable with a gyno you can delay it until then.

I recently went through the same thing and I only got the pap because I have painful periods with my PCOS. If you’ve never been sexually active I’d straight up tell them NO! But if you have I’d ask for medical advice first before making a decision.

You don’t need the STD testing and you don’t want the pap so why not cancel completely? If you’re going for something else just tell them you’re going to hold off on the pap for a future date.

ask for the smallest / pediatric speculum. pap smears are necessary like how getting vaccines are necessary. not fun but it’s for your health and it’s temporary pain

I’ve also nvr been sexually active so I didn’t even need the pap at first.
