i’ve always thought it’s weird how pushy everyone is about healthy women getting “well woman” checkups every single year, and everything happening with american “healthcare” and privacy makes me even more determined not to listen to the peer pressure

i think checkups are moreso to find out if you’re not actually healthy

i don’t need a doctor to find that out, i know my body and i know when something is wrong and that’s the only situation where a checkup needs to happen

i half agree. but also, checkups can catch things before they become a bigger problem. preventative health is important. i don’t blame you for ur mistrust in the government i mean i don’t trust them either

Fr, I didn’t know I had a UTI until I saw a new dr and they ran all the basic test (for establishing care). I started feeling it when they called me about my results, and I was like “oh so this isn’t just pre period cramps”. I probably would’ve ignored it

im sure you're smart enough to realize one doesnt have to have noticeable symptoms be physically burdened with an ailment what part of screening for early, non debilitating signs of sickness do you dislike? is it money or insurance? something personal?

For example, if you’re pre-diabetic you don’t tend to have symptoms or very mild easily ignored symptoms until it becomes type 2 diabetes. And pre-diabetes can be reversed and learning about it early can help you to make changes to try to avoid developing diabetes
