when i first tried to use tampons i legit like… could not get them in. i was SO tensed that there was essentially no opening & trying to insert was definitely uncomfortable, almost painful. especially if things are dry. over time, i just found the right brand, and let myself calm down & stop stressing about why it wasn’t going in & it all worked out w time. idk if any of this resonates, but my advice is just to try a new brand & make sure you can easily slide it in without a ton of resistance

You probably put it in too low or at the wrong angle. Also make sure you aren’t using one that is too big. I would start with light or regular, don’t use super.

If you can feel it then it’s definitely not in right, don’t let it put you off trying them again as they’re a great option for so many. The applicator makes the biggest difference for me, some have no applicator at all you just push up and hope for the best, plastic applicators are the only ones I’ll use and whilst they’re better for the environment cardboard applicators are just absolutely terrible in all aspects in my opinion

if you’re feeling a ton of friction & resistance it could have something to do w either your mental state (like me) or the size

Also if you aren’t using one with a plastic applicator, I would get some. Cardboard applicators suck.

yeah, there’s honestly a lot of trial and error with tampon insertion & it gets easier w practice & experience

Try a half inch (unless you can get it a little higher without discomfort), as long as you can access/pull the string still.

It goes up until the grip on the applicator is the only thing visible! So if you’re gripping the applicator by its grip you’ll know it’s all the way in when your finger touches skin
