I can’t speak from my own experience, but I do have a friend right now that is on birth control and while she rarely gets periods, when she does, she says last a longer than usual and I think she said one lasted for a couple months

i got on bc specifically to deal with having a long period (4 months of incredibly heavy bleeding lol) and it took around 2 months for my cycle to fix itself + stop bleeding

Completely normal as your body adjusts and even beyond that with some methods. Which one are you using?

If you skip the placebo pills (the pink pills) you should stop having periods. But I’d say it’s normal while your body adjusts! I didn’t have one for a few months, and even still it’s not regular (when it used to always be)

Oh! Um it’d typically be the pills on the last row that are the period pills… I’m not sure which pills those are haha. I take Vienva so I’ve only got 3 weeks of white pills and 1 week of pink pills

it might be different for you! usually i think it takes like 3 cycles for your body to get acclimated to it, which sucks :/ but after that you should be good, if you keep having side effects after that def talk to your doctor about getting on a different kind

Ah, okay, so you should adjust within 3-6 months to only bleeding during that last week of pills, called a withdrawal bleed. This mid-pack bleeding is breakthrough bleeding (which isn’t dangerous, just super annoying!). However, your pills have a different dose each week (so make sure you’re taking them in order!), which means your body is constantly changing doses. Some people’s bodies love that, others not so much. If your body hasn’t adjusted in 3-6 months, ask about switching methods.
