i think people have just come to synonomize (not a word but wtv) fast fashion with shein. fast fashion is any clothing brand that uses sweatshops to produce clothing, makes significantly more clothing than it sells, and the clothes are low quality to where they often start falling apart within few wears. cider’s website says (not gospel but something) they try to produce only as much clothing as they sell. idk what their clothing quality is as i’ve never shopped there.
of course any company is going to want you to constantly keep giving them money bc that’s how capitalism works. huge red flags for me are shein’s massive amount of products, the fact that they probably add lots of new products either daily or weekly, pouncing on microtrends, and the way ppl shop there with huge hauls. neither cider or shein talk about the manufacturing process on their website which is a red flag.
i’m not as familiar with cider as shein so take it with a grain of salt. it *seems* like cider is making more of an effort than shein to be better but they still are shady. if ur interested in buying ethically i’ve used good on you they rate companies like that. they rate shein and cider very similarly, though cider hasn’t been evaluated since 2023, not sure what would have changed though.
