It’s a body spray, a shower gel, 5 wallflowers and 6 hand sanitizers. All of that outside of the wallflowers will be used up before Valentine’s Day. That’s an average purchase made during a sale. That’s not overconsumption
overconsumption is such a huge issue and no one wants to talk about it

“Overconsumption” and it’s just a small stock of things that the buyer will use. I think, like with every other legitimate issue online, we’re losing the plot and effectively watering down the real meaning of the term.

Like if I buy every color of the rainbow in cross stitch thread… it’s going to look like a shit ton of stuff being bought at one time, but I’m going to use it. Compared with these back to school hauls all over TikTok where people are buying a new backpack/multiple backpacks, a whole new wardrobe, etc. every year just to fit a new aesthetic.

I get what you’re saying. There’s a creator on TikTok with a shower full of products that they can’t possibly use before they go bad but a modest sale purchase is “overconsumption”?

YES that is exactly what I’m talking about. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with spoiling yourself every now and then with products that are objectively unnecessary, but that’s just insanity. Like that’s looking like the storage room of some super upscale homeless shelter 💀
