As you age you lose hearing. Some faster than others. Sometimes bad accidents can cause hearing loss. Or going to loud concerts. Just cause you werent born deaf doesnt mean you cant become deaf

At my high school when I was younger a boyfriend learned ASL for his girlfriend, had no issues talking to her with her cochlear implant.
