I used to work at a hospital before I transferred universities and I didn’t put in my 2 weeks because I didn’t know I was moving till the day before. I was moving to get away from my father who assaulted me. Now I need a job but I’m not in good terms (1)

Or good standing with the company as my manager said in the email to me. I want to reach out to a coworker and be like this was the problem back then. Like literally on the way to and from the hospital on my last shift my dad slapped my thigh and wouldn’t stop while I was screaming. I want to be in good terms for recommendations and to work with the company at a clinic. Idk how to approach this though

Literally the day before I left I had my last shift and the only reason I went in was just because I wanted to talk in person with my manager who usually left a little after my shift. But it was a Friday and she left early

Yeah I just wanted the human touch to it, idk what to do, I can’t just walk into the hospital, they have high security but at the same time I can’t just text or email my boss this reason. I don’t want any charges on my dad, it will make things harder for my mom. Plus a lot of my old coworkers don’t work there anymore

Like via zoom or something?

Like I worked there over a year and didn’t call out once, I didn’t have any bad performance, and I picked up 16 hr shifts on the regular. Even my manager said my leaving was a shock a surprise. I truly didn’t know I was leaving until day before, if I knew before I would put in 2 weeks, I desperately wanted her recommendations for my future endeavors

Ask the manager, if you could do a zoom or if there’s any availability they have because you need to share the severity of the situation, and you don’t feel comfortable putting it in a email because it’s sensitive information. Express how much of a devastation it was to you leaving with no notice. And if they’ll give you the time to explain virtually, they’ll understand why u made the choices you did

I’m afraid that the zoom will be recorded, idk what to do. Idk if she would even agree to a zoom call out of no where it’s been 2 years
