So the winds in storms causes the particles to move super fast and the negative charged particles are pushed toward the ground and the positive particles are pushed up from the ground. When they meet, it causes a bright and large electric current to shoot up into the cloud which causes lighting! It moves so fast that it looks like it’s coming from the cloud, but it’s actually going from the ground to the cloud

Isn’t it? I got curious ab it bc I live near baseball fields in Florida where they have a lighting alarm and it went off a little bit ago. I got curious ab how lightning alarms worked that I realized I didn’t even really know how lighting worked lol the more you know (If you’re curious, lightning alarms sense the electric field changes a lighting strike makes in the air and if it’s any closer than ab 15 miles, it’ll sound. If there isn’t a strike within 15 miles for 30 minutes, you’re safe)
