Someone is calling me a closet conservative because I’m a Christian and it really makes me sad/mad because I WAS raised conservative but changed because I came to learn that the Jesus I was taught about would not support what they were promoting.

Makes me so upset that Christianity is associated with conservatism, because as someone raised Christian I know for a fact Jesus did not stand for any of that shit. I’m not even religious anymore but it just makes me mad for y’all 😭

Like I did not escape 20+ years of indoctrination and struggle SO much with the fact that I hold different views than EVERY SINGLE FAMILY MEMBER I HAVE just to be accused of still holding those beliefs

IMO Jesus would be a dem. He would want healthcare and food for all. He would never call someone “illegal”, like what version of Jesus do they know??? I’m atheist but was raised Christian and I think he would be heartbroken if he were here rn

It’s cause a lot of times we still have unconscious or internalized thoughts that affect our actions and speech that come off as disrespectful or offensive or ignorant to their struggles. And yeah it sucks that we are associated with Christan cruelties, but ultimately we aren’t the victims here and can’t go around victim blaming (not saying that you are but many do).

You’re right. It was just odd cause they were straight up arguing with me about it. It was just a random post in a Christian group and they said something passive aggressive about me being a conservative and when I said I wasn’t continued to say “yes you are” “you’re lying” “I can sense them”. 💀. I understand if that’s your initial assumption but arguing when someone definitively states they’re opposed to those things is weird.
