they put your arm on a little side table and tie a stretchy rubber strip onto your arm to get the blood flowing to your vein. then they disinfect the area and slide the needle into your vein. it’s a very shallow piercing, and then they just leave the needle in and put vials into the device on the end of it. you’ll feel a sting when it happens and it can range from no feeling to feeling a bit uncomfortable while they’re taking the blood but it’s not painful. you don’t feel them changing the vial
no problem! they’ll also actively have a conversation with you while they do it to distract you, and you don’t have to watch it happen! personally i do like to watch it bc im not scared of blood and i don’t have much anxiety over it now. i like knowing whats going on, its a pretty straightforward procedure and they’re very careful!
