See the thing is I don’t want my grandfather’s name cited in my research I’d much rather have the name of a man I chose and love if I gotta have a man’s last name cited. And at the end of the day. Your maiden name is still a man’s name.

my husband is taking my last name. even if we are married when he decided he wants to pursue education, i would want him to have all his accomplishments written in his own name if he wants. i dont understand why men who have that mindset are still so hard to find.

I struggle with this so hard bc I don’t like our names hyphenated but I don’t want HIS name on my medical degree but some things were more difficult growing up with a mom with a different last name than me, she always had to prove she was my mom and had her name changed. Which like I totally get for safety but it was just an annoying hoop to jump thru all the time and I don’t want to deal w that w my kids. Ugh❤️‍🩹

I get the point but I didn’t take my partners last name because mine is just way cooler. His is a very basic short name and mine is a long pretty German one. Your last name is from a man either way just pick one you like lmao.

Ok this is fair.. my last name is that of an unfaithful man and his unfaithful father…… I think I just grieve not being the same me I’ve been thru my whole life. But I guess becoming A.B. doesn’t mean I’m not still foundationally A.A. But will my work previous to marriage still link up to my wiki page after? Maybe that’s what OP is getting at. Though “A. Bee (formerly A. Ay)” isn’t hard to add I guess.

I mean if the concern is specifically Wikipedia… you can edit that yourself. Or make a request or something.
