for most of history women were property. first she’s property of her father and then of her husband. obviously things are different now, but i do think that women being seen as a thing to own and not a person to actually build a life with changes the context around women and men cheating in general. it’s a case by case basis ofc and im not ever going to defend cheaters, but speaking generally to me they just aren’t the same

that’s not true at all? did you even read what i said? i agreed cheating is bad no matter what but that generally speaking the context around it is different for men and women. if you’re going to get mad at me for what i’m saying can you at least be mad about the things i’m actually saying? 😭

cheating is bad no matter what and no one should do it. but given the history of women’s oppression especially around relationships, i do think that factors into how society views cheating. no matter who she is in the situation (the woman being cheated on, the one a man is cheating with, the actual cheater) she’s viewed less favorably than a man who did the exact same thing, bc the cultural understanding of women = men’s property is still an opinion a lot of people hold, consciously or not
