
It actually is because it was originally based off of men’s bmi and white men at that. Compared to different body fat distribution with ppl of color. For example my family comes from Peru so naturally we have thicker skin because our ancestors evolved to protect their skin from the sun. It contributes to how fat is stored so it’s one example how it makes bmi inaccurate. If anything I base off of body fat percentage but I haven’t checked myself recently. Last ik I had 26-27% body fat
