a lot of people are overqualified and not getting jobs rn, the job market is just bad. my fiancé has applied to over 500 jobs he’s qualified or very overqualified for, including Costco, retail, etc. we’ve had professionals look at the apps and resume and say he should be getting interviews, but he’s not. the system atm is just fucked
Recruiter here! Calling to ask why is an almost surefire way to make them defensive and not want to hire you in the future. BUT if you call to check on your application and give them an elevator pitch while they look for it, you just might have a shot. But keep in mind that they may have just already had some strong applicants further in the interview process and closed the position without reviewing more.
I got an interview at a grocery store and starbucks and starbucks never called me back but the store did. unfortunately they had to give it to an internal candidate but at least they told me why! And assured me nothing was wrong with me it’s just union rules. Like that is how you should do it.
