No it really doesn’t show that, activism is fucking hard and takes a long time to change shit but it works We couldn’t own a credit card until the 70s, the lives we live and suffer under now were hard fought and we are going to have to fight hard to make things better for the next generation. Apathy and nihilism is a breeding ground for the fascism that is growing right now, it is not something we can risk giving into
The systems are already there as they have been for years and we all exist under them and have an ability to shape parts of them, but it’s not like anyone can just decide the system works differently. People have to be educated and organized Also, like, sure if all men were advocates for us that’d change things, sure, but, like, even if just all women were advocating for ourselves together that’d change things, men rely on us and where there is reliance there is power
Men do not have the ability to simply override us, if we could make gains when we would legally be property of our husbands who could legally do almost whatever they wanted with us we have the ability to make gains now. We’re not gonna just while out misogyny, but we can make progress and men having the instinct to look after themselves first does not change our ability to do that
There is no “the power.” They have more power than we do, yes, we still have power, and far more of it than we’ve had in past struggles. We have to fight smarter, better organized, and more prepared to use the moments of weakness in patriarchy to push through social gains And there comes a point where treating us poorly does more harm to them than actual benefit—we’re already close to that point in some areas—and that’s where we can really break a lot of their power bases
