I hate to break it to you but actual hot girls are smart enough to know that celebrating independence from Britain is very different from celebrating the modern day administration and you can appreciate independence while criticizing our current govt
Hot girls aren’t celebrating the 4th of july 🥰

You can do whatever you want but you can’t blame people for not feeling super patriotic this year.

I hate to break it to YOU, but some of us didn’t have independence from ANYONE at the time because we weren’t ⚪️. Black people weren’t free from shit at the time. We were still in chains. So imma sit my SEXY BLACK ASS in the fucking house. Thank you <333

the point is you can be happy that we became independent from Britain while not condoning every action or person that led to that, much like you can love a country while being able to criticize it in order to improve it. you are being that girl who is too woke not bc of that sentiment but bc of you not understanding the main point of the post at all and commenting as though you’re making some genius take instead of something everyone knows

like obvi this is not a founding fathers fan post, just a post about separating celebrating independence from any love of specific politicians or parties, including the ones that existed during the signing of the Declaration of Independence

“something good happened but it wasn’t good for ME! I don’t care if all of you had better lives bc I DIDN’T YET!” what if we celebrate July 4 with the understanding that it wasn’t perfect, didn’t bring us all to freedom but did so much good for many people, and also celebrate Juneteenth to appreciate the further steps towards equality taken then. you don’t have to be directly impacted by something to appreciate or celebrate - my ethnic group wasn’t directly impacted by Juneteenth -

but i still celebrate it because i care about people who don’t look like me too! you can celebrate and be critical at the same time bc we are complex beings and all want to create a better world

For you to have worded it that way at the beginning was so weird, I didn’t bother reading the rest cause you know wtf I mean. 🤦🏾‍♀️ IMMA STAND on what I said. BLACK PEOPLE were still in CHAINS that’s why we got Juneteenth. African Americans were still being slaved, beaten, breed, and RAPED. My ancestors had no choice back then but we have the choice now and I’m choosing NOT to celebrate for all the reasons I stated above. Have a beautiful holiday. <3

the “we” you’re referring to, did not include anyone in my bloodline. celebrating freedom of your people from king george is fine but i don’t have to. you’re acting like it’s crazy for some people to not care for the holiday. 💀

wait so if you’re not American and no one in your family is, why are you going after a post celebrating an American holiday? like “hey im not related to this AT ALL but here are my personal complaints” and then i address them and all you can say is “well it doesn’t matter to me since i’m not related to this at all”. what?? you just complained about it bro, if it actually doesn’t concern you just don’t make annoying comments about it lmao

Bruh she never said she wasn’t American she said the so called “freedom” declared on the 4th didn’t extend to her people which would include anyone who’s not white…

I said “we” gained independence as a country from Britain. even if many people were not free yet, and under terrible conditions, they were still independent from Britain. please read things before you argue with them

Only rich land owning white men gained independence… gained independence from Britain to be what a slave or less than a full human being? How is that freedom or independence?

again, the entire country became independent from Britain (this means no one in the country had to pay insane taxes to Britain, which they previously did). this doesn’t mean everyone immediately gained freedom - many people did not. however, this was one step closer for everyone towards Juneteenth, which would not have been possible if we were still under British rule because their shitty operation of colonizing the states required the exploitative labor of slaves all the way through

Girl I’m saying this as somebody who usually celebrates the fourth but saying the rev got us “closer to Juneteenth is dumb as shit, respectfully. Please google the Dunmore proclamation. A lot of Black people fought for the British in the Rev War specifically because they knew abolition was on the horizon for the British and that independence for the US would keep them enslaved longer.
