“women just aren’t pretty like they were 50 years ago” cameras were blurrier. that’s it.

it’s also that we’re not required to be beautiful to be worthy anymore. grandma always had her hair, nails, and makeup done because she wasn’t allowed her own bank account or property without a well off husband. now that we can have things that allow us to be independent, we don’t have to rely on looks and homemaking skills to be successful.

All the *famous* old beauty photos are of celebrities, models, etc. People aren’t posting their nan’s photo album, generally, they’re comparing to Marylin Monroe, Judy Garland, etc. Those were the famous examples of beauty standards at the time, so their photos are better preserved, more numerous, and ultimately, more popular to modern audiences.

which is so ironic considering it’s like a known fact that our features became more defined and “beautiful” over time and that the people today would be considered “a work of art” to ppl back in other centuries

not really. the 50s-90s were peak for tv dinners, brightly coloured items, and other crap processed foods. women hardly ate period let alone real foods. the diet of most homemakers included packs of cigarettes, unlimited bottles of wine and coffee, and low/no calorie foods like jello, boiled eggs, and crystal light. also a time with limited and incorrect health information. they were not healthy lmao

i remember learning about it in history in high school things like our jawlines became more “defined” and our cheek bones (not in the way beauty standards are now just like the general bone structure) would be considered significantly more attractive to people centuries ago

HUH?! There were plenty of toxins used in everyday life that people didn’t know were toxic back then. The only difference between then and now is that in modern day, we know what’s bad for us, but that doesn’t necessarily stop us.
