i wish more people talked about skinny shaming tbh… i know it sounds ridiculous in this cultural rebound to the 90s-era of unhealthy weight loss, but i’ve been dealing with this since i was a middle schooler in the 2010s. i always hated being skinny…

Agreed!! We need to stop shaming everyone altogether. Weight is such a nonissue that affects no one else but the person who has it.

i got told i was too skinny by friends, by teachers, by coaches, even by some classmate’s parents… that’s all anyone ever noticed about me or said to me when we’d first meet. i tried SO hard not to be skinny. i ate McDonald’s 6 times a day when i worked there. i ate 9 hot dogs in one sitting while camping with a friend in 7th grade whose dad wouldn’t stop complaining about how skinny i was compared to his two daughters… i was barely 12 and this GROWN MAN dogged on me for a WEEK for being skinny!

Agreed. I am gluten intolerant so I can’t eat gluten and I have lost an extremely Noticeable amount of weight. And I have been skinny shamed a few times but what really upsets me is when people compare themselves to me or almost make me feel guilty for being skinny. I know it’s them projecting their insecurity. But it really makes me feel guilty for being confident in my body sometimes

it sounds so mundane and thoughtless compared to many of my fellow girlies who dealt with being overweight and the bullying, but it was a whole different beast when my friends began using me as their goal weight. i loved the way THEY looked, and yet my presence caused them to compare themselves to me… it was just so heartbreaking and confusing and painful as a middle schooler. i wanted to stop being skinny so my friends would stop hating themselves for not being my size…

I have a friend who I mentioned I was considering because I was unable to control my weight loss and I knew that wasn’t healthy and she basically told me in a joking manner not to say that because she can’t lose weight and I didn’t take it as a joke it made me feel really bad.

Because obviously I’m not trying to brag about my body or anything but she made me feel like she’s not a safe person to discuss my health concerns with her.

I feel you 100% because there are so many of us who are not skinny by choice…

LITERALLY and I wish people understood often times it’s literally genetic.
