You know what scares me? After creating this username I haven’t had much issues on various channels. The only one I have is on my college channel.. the school I’m transferring to. This makes me fearful that it’ll be a negative environment :/

im so sorry girl. Even if people are braver online than in person, the things ppl say online are usually their true feelings cause they know they wont face repercussions. Is there anyway u could back out and find another school? if ur not comfortable with how ur being perceived without stepping foot there id hate to know how you'd feel on campus

In my experience people are way meaner online than they are in person. At my school the mean people were vocal on yikyak but I never encountered them irl everyone was super nice. I hope you don’t encounter the bad ones there

They comment under every post playing into the conspiracy that Jews are rich and are obsessed with money. I said they’re antisemitic for invoking that trope and they said they’re proudly antisemitic :/

I hear ya. Unfortunately I’ve seen so many Jewish students reporting hate crimes on college campuses :/. One example that comes to mind was on 8/24 at the University of Pittsburgh two Jewish students who were attacked and injured with a bottle on route to a Shabbat service. I want to believe it’s just bigots online but it’s so present irl too

Unfortunately antisemitism often goes unpunished and with no backlash. Even more callous in person when school’s admins do nothing to protect us. That’s why I specifically chose a school with Hillel/Chabad so that I would have a community. I chose a school who don’t have protests/groups that aren’t antisemitic entirely but have had various antisemitic instances. I thought I was being cautious, but now I think I’ve been mistaken. I’m hoping I’m just being paranoid and it’ll be okay.

the palestine protests are not antisemitic and the genocide being committed by what is presumably all of our country (🇺🇸) is more important than your jewish feelings :)) saying this also jewish btw

Not all but many of said protests are antisemitic. Also Jewish people are facing extreme discrimination too. Silencing antisemitism bc of the Israeli government is WRONG. That would be like saying Islamophobia is a non issue because of the actions of the taliban. Muslim feelings don’t matter because people under taliban rule are being murdered en masse. Notice how that sounds wrong? So don’t do the same to Jews

I am not silencing antisemitism because of the israeli government but also i really don’t care if one person in a protest happens to be antisemitic when we are protesting what is essentially the 21st century shoah being committed by the US government through the proxy state of israel.

Saying you don’t care if it becomes antisemitic… shows how flawed your movement is. You don’t care if it becomes a hate movement. You don’t care if it becomes justification for antisemitism. While simultaneously claiming it’s not antisemitic. According to you it wouldn’t matter either way. You do realise that makes you sound like the Nazi? “It doesn’t matter if my movement is antisemitic because Germans protesting against Jewish control is righteous.”

I am not saying i don’t care if it becomes antisemitic. I am saying i don’t care if a few people in the crowd happen to be antisemitic. There is a modern holocaust being committed in our name by our US government, it is every US citizen’s responsibility to speak out against it in any way they can. Obviously antisemitism is racism and is horrible, but the protests are not antisemitic and I have bigger things to worry about than if one or two people in the crowd happen to hate us.

Again, Holocaust inversions are antisemitic. Also let’s not act as if the antisemites are a fringe majority. It is the leaders who are antisemitic. Khalil, maya, nerdeen, etc. it’s not a fringe, it is the foundation. Ignoring, excusing, and justifying it. Showing indifference to it. Sums up how it is a hate movement.

I am not inverting the holocaust, I am saying that this is a similar event in the 21st century. Also I am never going to blame a Palestinian who’s home was stolen by us for hating us, so no I do not blame Khalil for being “antisemitic” (he wasn’t even antisemitic notably) Also you are obviously using chatgpt which is so funny. Did you know that chatgpt is actually halachicly forbidden? Conversation for another time. But the protests aren’t antisemitic 99% of the time.

I’m not using chatgbt. You are inverting the Holocaust by accusing Israel of being the new Nazis and Palestinians the new Jews. Khalil is antisemitic! He said 10/07 needed to happen so Palestine would be relevant. Increased antisemitism at Columbia. Such as restricting Jewish students from entering campus or the library. The majority are antisemitic.

But that’s literally what is happening. I won’t refer to this as the shoah because that’s the specific term for our holocaust but most genocide scholars do agree it can be referred to as a holocaust. Israel, which are a proxy colony of the US/UK are in the is instance the aggressor who are committing a genocide. Once again as I said earlier I can’t care less if a Palestinian hates us considering we did steal their homes, but also Khalil isn’t. Was he restricting them for being Jews or Zionist?

You can call it a genocide but invoking the Holocaust is antisemitic. Justifying antisemitism is wrong because it’s never okay. Holding every single Israeli and Jew accountable for the Israeli government is antisemitic. Khalil is antisemitic but you bypassed my examples. Jews were restricted from campus and even told to stay home. You claim to be against genocide but support one against Jews. Columbia student khymani said “you’re lucky I don’t go out and murder Zionists”.

how is that antisemitic? from my understanding palestinians are also semites. And either way, the holocaust was a genocide so using the holocaust as an example isn't wrong, unless u don't believe the holocaust was a genocide which is a whole other conversation

antisemitic refers not to who are semites and only includes jews even if other groups like palestinians, maronites, syriac christian’s, and druze are semites btw.

that's honestly confusing as hell for me cause why not call it jewishphobic or something like that instead of excluding a the majority of what makes up the semite group?

because the (root) word was invented by a racist white guy in the 19th century to make racism against jews sound more scientific and now still commonly refers to racism against jews.

Antisemitism is a term specifically coined for Jews, not Semite’s in general… I’m not denying the Holocaust being a genocide. But it’s not righteous to use Jewish suffering as a measuring stick or use Jews as political pawns.
