
Most of us have no issue with that, we just don’t like when call us bigots for no reason. For example when we were called transphobic for saying that it’s disgusting that some men stick their dicks in peanut butter jars and then given no legitimate reason, just ridiculed for not reading philosophy.
That may very well be true but unfortunately we also live in a world where not only have some people don’t realize that their words have roots in bigotry, but there are people who seek offense in every generalization even when it’s clear exceptions are known but not the topic. There’s also the issue that most instances I’ve seen of people pointing out bigotry on here starts very aggressively like my example did. Of course people get crazy defensive when someone calls them a bigot straight out,
it’s a natural response. The issue is past this point all someone hears is you calling them a bad person, not any explanation of what they said and how it’s rooted in bigotry. And there are even still cases like my example where no actual bigotry is taking place, but someone just wanting to sound more socially aware and smarter than everyone else. The point is a more open dialogue goes far further in here than accusations.
