A movement using a name doesnt mean it necessarily and exclusively represents its name’s meaning. Thanks #5 lol

it's not a group, movement, doctrine or ideology or any other such organization of people/beliefs. "antifa" is simply an umbrella label for anybody opposed to fascism

lol my comment got deleted/blocked so i’m just gonna repeat it. like others have said, antifa is not a group. there is no organization or “movement” called antifa. therefore, saying you are against antifa implies you’re against the idea of antifascism (ie pro fascism), since there’s nothing else antifa could possibly refer to

Antifa is a most definitely a movement. Or at the least an ideal rooted in anarchism and communism. Terrorist actions have also been taken in the name of antifa that fall in the global terrorism database. Not saying its a terror group because antifa isnt a group. Its just not organized with a leader or a founder. If it was simply being antifascist people would be vocally in support of antifa and being antifa in the mainstream. But definitely its used incorrectly as an umbrella term.

biggest issue in my mind is simply the fact “antifa” accusations are going to be used to persecute political obstacles. Reminds me of the cold war era classifying anyone you dont like as a communist

what terrorist actions? and how were they attributed to antifa? and honestly, what even is antifa? i’m not saying it doesn’t exist. but i’m a leftist college student in a blue state, which is exactly the sort of place people are claiming ‘antifa’ comes from, and i’ve never met anyone who even knows what antifa is, let alone who is part of it.

Reading my shit back i worded that very poorly. Attacks that have been SAID TO HAVE BEEN taken in the name of antifa because again there isnt a group or a founder or an organizational structure or anything like that. Thats my mistake.
